What happens if your rate comes down during the mortgage application process?

By Charlene McGuire (Kilgour) ·

Mortgage rates from lenders change often, so how can this affect you as a customer?

If a lender lowers its rates while your application is going through, it may be possible to move to the lower rate before your mortgage starts, depending on the lender. There is currently no FCA requirement for brokers to tell you about this, so depending on the broker, you may not find out.

At LNK Mortgages, checking whether your rate has come down is built into the process. We use software that alerts us for each individual customer if a lower rate becomes available, so we can let you know and talk you through whether switching makes sense before your new mortgage starts.
